Estimated Resident Population by Age Groups

The 2006 Estimated resident Population (ERP) data table contains
preliminary estimates of the resident population at 30 June 2006, based
on the results of the 2006 Census of Population and Housing. The ERP
data is somewhat more accurate than Census data in that it is adjusted
for Census undercounting and for Australians temporarily overseas; it
is also – unlike the Census – updated annually. Regular annual updates
of the ERP data incorporate births minus deaths, overseas migration,
and interstate movements.
In this context, the ERP figures are used for comparison purposes.
